Forum: netlabels Subject: batch-converting mp3 filenames for upload?

I'm getting ready to upload a slew of mp3s, but of course they all have spaces, punctuation, and other non-alphanumeric characters that the FTP server won't like. Has anyone found an Applescript or program or something (I'm using OSX 10.3.9) that'll take a batch of files and convert their non-alphanumeric characters to something innocuous like '_' or '-'? I've found a few scripts and programs, but nothing that takes out ALL ftp-unfriendly characters, and I don't know Applescript at all so I can't code my own.

I've also heard that these batch-rename programs often erase the comments field of mp3 id3 tags. I would like to avoid this, but then I don't know if it's even really true.

Thoughts?
